Method (adapted from APHA Standard Method 3500-Cu C. Bathocuproine Method)Cuprous ion forms a water-soluble orange colored chelate with bathocuproine disulfonate. The absorbance is measured at 484 nm. - 50 mL sample add 1 mL HCl (1:1) + 5 mL hydroxylamine hydrochloride solution + 5 mL sodium citrate + 5 mL disodium bathocuproine solution. Mix well.
- Read absorbance against a blank at 484 nm.
