List of Colorimeter Assays

Below is a list of some of the most popular measurements that you could do with the Colorimeter. 

For some of these tests (ammonia-sulfate) we have developed a lab procedure which includes a standard/calibration curve and sample results.
After these are tests such as lead, pH and titration-based assays which we are actively working on. We should have a lab procedure for these tests in the near future. 
Further down the list are Assays which we are not currently working on but may be of interest in the future.

Ammonia

  • Preferred method: API test kit

  • Overview: 5 mL of sample water. Add drops from bottles 1 and 2

Iron

Nitrate

  • Range: 0 - 200 ppm
  • Preferred method: API test kit

  • Overview: 5 mL of sample water. Add drops from bottles 1 and 2. Requires good mixing.

Nitrite

Phosphate

  • Overview: 10 mL of sample, add packet and mix for 3 minutes on a stir plate.

Potassium

  • Range: 0 - 50 ppm
  • Preferred method: LaMotte kit. Turbidity assay.
  • Overview: 5 mL of sample, add NaOH solution and NaTPB powder. Mix.

Sulfate

  • Lab Procedure: Sulfate

  • LED wavelength: Green LED (RGB board)
  • Range: 0 - 300 ppm
  • Preferred method: Hach SulfaVer4. Turbidity assay.
  • Overview: 10 mL of sample, add contents of packet and shake.
